You see these people every day, even if you do not realize it. These are the ones with contagious smiles and laughter. Their eyes shine like a hot sun, and you feel safe and at peace when they are there. Outside, they seem to have planned everything; their life seems perfect. They are the ones who told you about their dreams for years – and now they are living them fully. They seem to have everything they want, and they deserve it.

BUT THERE IS SOMETHING THAT YOU DO NOT SEE.

Things are different when they are alone. All these smiles and laughter disappear, and the tears begin to flow.

There is no shame in that, but they cry in secret so that others do not feel what they are going through. They cry because they are desperately trying to find inner strength to keep moving forward. As I said, you see these people every day. It’s your neighbor, your sister, your mother, your brother, your boss, and your partner. They realize that they are far from perfect, but that does not stop them from trying to be a better version of themselves. These people always seek to satisfy the needs of others before theirs.

YES, THEY ARE HIDING BEHIND THIS LUMINOUS SMILE, BUT EVERY DAY, THEY ARE FACING THE DEPRESSION. A FUNCTIONAL DEPRESSION, TO BE ACCURATE.

It’s a disabling mood disorder that just goes away enough for someone to take on their daily responsibilities.

SOME SIGNS TO MONITOR:

1. Do they become easily irritable? 2. Are they too hard on themselves? 3. Do they tell you that they feel like “wasting their time? 4. Are they too anxious? 5. Have they started to dismiss things they once thought were important? It is important for these people to know that they matter. And most importantly, they need to know that someone cares about them.
