How many times have you been angry because you forgot something or because you did not finish someone who was taking a little longer to do something that caused significant and lasting consequences? One of the authors of the popular Quora website, shared with readers, his 2-minute rule that put his life back in order. That’s what he wrote:
Our mind is bad when it comes to making decisions because they suggest changes. Our instinct works to avoid changes. The 2-minute rule is great because it removes the decision-making process from our path and triggers the start of what you always postpone.
Here’s how the 2-minute rule helped me:
1. The pile of dirty dishes is made.
Wash your dishes immediately after finishing your meal takes less than 2 minutes.
2. The room is in order.
When you return from work, you only need about 30 seconds to remove your clothes and store them in your closet. These small changes will give a whole new look to your apartment.
3. Respond quickly to your emails.
4. Have the invoices for this month arrived?
Do not panic. Pay them right away. It’s simple now. You do not even have to go out of your house, you can still pay online if you wish.
5. Make a reservation now.
Life is so much simpler when you do not have a long list of chores and little things to do. Do not delay on what you have to do, do not panic and do not worry about things that take less than 2 minutes of your time.
