The owner of a cafe has had enough rude customers, so he set up a sign to reward politeness

Austin Simms of Roanoke, USA, owns a coffee shop and found the perfect way to get his customers to be polite when they place their order. Indeed, the rude you are, the higher the price of coffee.

Outside, he has installed a sign that indicates prices based on the courtesy of customers with the server.

On the panel you can read:

  • – A small coffee: $ 5.00
  • – A small coffee please: $ 3.00
  • Hello, I would like to have a small coffee please: 1.75 $

Each sentence tells what a customer has to say to pay the cheapest price. The more polite you are the less you pay dearly. Sometimes we are so busy when we order our coffee, or just wake up, that we forget that the person who serves us is actually another human being, and the latter is in no way responsible for our state of mind so he does not have to endure our questionable mood.

“I decided that I had to solve all the injustices of the world, to start by charging more for people who do not take the time to say hello so that they realize that we are all people behind the counter” said Simms. So he set up a sign to reward politeness

When he wrote the sign, the next day there was a picture of that placard in a newspaper in England, and then it became viral on the Internet.

One thing is certain, to establish such a rule, the service must undoubtedly be done with a smile!

Please, share if you think it’s a great way to encourage politeness!
