Humans have had many different ways of abusing animals for their entertainment. Putting them in circuses, riding on their backs for entertainment, we found countless ways to use animals for our amusement at their expense.
This is a question CNN reported in 2011, however, the trend is still strong since then, and nothing has been done to stop it. They found that small fish, turtles and other amphibians are sold in small plastic bags by street vendors while they are still alive.
One of these filled live packs costs only about $ 1.50, and leaves just enough room for the animal to move. According to sellers who sell these “baubles”, the bags are filled with clear or colored oxygenated water that provides nutrients to the animals.
However, animals can only survive for a few days in the pocket and die if the client does not release them early enough, something they do not have to do.
These pockets of live animals have provoked outrage among animal activists in Asia and around the world. Many of them pointed to the lack of animal welfare laws in China and perhaps why this is so widespread.
Live animals are sold as keychains in China!
This use of animals as jewelry is not a unique case. Live beetles in precious jewels are worn as brooches in Mexico. The bearers then attach these live beetles to their clothing using either chains or clothes pegs.
These keychains are very popular in China and the worst part is that it’s perfectly legal to sell them.
