The National Commission for Ethics in the Field of Human Medicine CNE (President Otfried Höffe) treated, thankfully critically, the use of the drug Ritalin in its position of November 22, 2011 under the title “The <improvement > Of the human by pharmacological substances »1: The behavior of the child would be influenced by chemistry without any internal activity. This is an infringement of the child’s freedom and personality rights, because the chemical agents do cause certain behavioral changes, but the child does not learn under the effect of chemistry how he could change his behavior himself. Thus, it deprives him of important learning experiences at the level of autonomous and human action: “This constitutes a significant limitation of the freedom of the child, and this hampers the development of his personality”, criticizes the CNE.
An argument now comes from a very different side with the help of critics alarmed by the catastrophe of Ritalin. On February 6, Der Spiegel quotes US-American psychiatrist Leon Eisenberg, who was born in 1922 as the son of Judeo-Russian immigrants and “scientific father of ADHD,” who reported seven months earlier. his death, in his last interview at the age of 87:
“ADHD is a telling example of a manufactured disease.” 2
However, since 1968, for about 40 years, the “illness” of Leon Eisenberg wandered through diagnostic and statistical textbooks first as “hyperkinetic reaction in childhood”, nowadays named “ADHD” (Deficit Disorder). attention / hyperactivity disorder). The consumption of ADHD drugs has increased in Germany in eighteen years from 34 kg (1993) to the record sum of 1760 kg (2011) – a turnover 51 times higher! In the United States, one in ten boys, at the age of ten, swallows ADHD every day. And that increases continuously.3
If it was part of the proven repertoire of Bernays, the father of propaganda, to sell the First World War to his people using his uncle’s psychoanalysis, and to use science and confidence in science to the profit increase of the industry – what would it be if we once looked at the order of which the “scientific father of ADHD” practiced science? His career was surprisingly dazzling and his “manufactured disease” led to sharp increases in turnover. And, after all, between 2006 and 2009, he participated in the work of the “Committee for DSM V and ICD XII, American Psychiatric Association” 4. And Leon Eisenberg received from the “National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression NARSAD” in 2003 “the Ruane Award for research in psychiatry for children and adolescents. For more than 40 years, he was the world’s leading children’s psychiatrist because of his pharmacology, research, teaching, and social procedures, and for his theories of autism and social medicine. “5And Eisenberg was a member Organizing Committee for Women and Medicine Conference, – Bahamas, November 29 – December 3, 2006, Josiah Macy Foundation (2006) »6 The Josiah Macy Foundation organized, during and long after the Second World War, conferences with agents secret services of the OSS, the future CIA, as Gregory Bateson and Heinz von Foerster.
American psychologist Lisa Cosgrove et al. Followed this question in the Financial Ties between DSM-IV Panel Members and the Pharmaceutical Industry7 study [financial links between DSM-IV board members and the pharmaceutical industry] and discovered: “95 of the 170 (56%) members of the DSM-IV board had one or more financial ties with companies in the pharmaceutical industry. All members of the <Emotional Disorder> and <Schizophrenia and Other Psychotic Disorders> Board had financial relationships with drug manufacturers. […] Relationships are particularly strong in the diagnostic areas, where drugs are the first level of psychic disturbance treatment. “8 The situation is still the same in the next edition of the manual:” Of the 137 members of the DSM- V who made disclosure statements, 56% announced relationships with the industry – no percentage improvement over members of the DSM-IV. “9 For this reason, Irwin Savodnik, professor of psychiatry at the University of California from Los Angeles, concluded: “The true vocabulary of psychiatry is currently defined at all levels by the pharmaceutical industry.” 10
This is well paid. Here’s an example: The Acting Director of the Pediatric Psychopharmacology Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital and Associate Professor of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School earned “between 2000 and 2007 a million dollars in revenue from drug manufacturers.”
In any case, no one can override the statement of the father of ADHD: “ADHD is a telling example of a manufactured disease.”
Psychologists, pedagogues and doctors are not there to leash children to the “chemical rope”, because the whole society can not cope with the products of his failed theories about the human being and the education, having abandoned the initiative of educating our children in the free pharmaceutical market. Let us remember the fundamental substance of psychology and personal pedagogy: The child must acquire, in a very solid direction, autonomous and human action – and for that he needs the family and the school: in these areas he must be able to mature psychically. This is the core of the human person. •

Marc-André Gagnon and Joel Lexchin, long-time researchers in pharmaceutical promotion, conducted a study that found that the pharmaceutical industry spent 24.4% of sales in dollars on promotion, compared to 13.4% for research. and the development in 2004. This indicates that almost twice as much money is spent pushing people to buy a product than doing research to be certain that these drugs are safe!
Dr. Edwards C. Hamlyn, a founding member of the Royal College of General Practitioners, announced in 1998 “ADHD is a fraud to justify the beginning of a life of drug addiction in children “.
