Nothing can replace exercise, but turmeric extract appears to produce similar benefits for cardiovascular health, especially for women with age-related problems associated with age-related health problems. After 8 weeks, the induced dilation increased significantly in the exercise group and in the curcumin group, compared to the control group. The researchers concluded:

“The present study showed that regular ingestion of curcumin or regular aerobic exercises have significantly improved endothelial function. The extent of improvement in endothelial function that was comparable in both groups, suggesting that curcumin may prevent the decline of age-associated endothelial function in postmenopausal women.

While this study is encouraging for people who are already using turmeric in their diet, or are taking curcumin supplements to protect themselves from a wide variety of potential diseases, it should be made clear that exercise should not, does can not be replaced by a supplement.
