A hospital in Canada authorizes animals for the well-being of their patients.

Cuddling your furry friend, be it a dog, a cat, a ferret, a rabbit or even a mouse, is always the greatest benefit. Especially when he has since he is a baby … A sacred bond is created.

With the rise of pet therapy in recent times, we can see that the man / animal relationship can be very rich for humans.

And this hospital , across the Atlantic, understood it very well. You do not have to go far to make the connection: having a serious illness is one of the most stressful and stressful events that a human can experience.

Juravinski Hospital (in the City of Hamilton) has opened a new program called Zachary’s Paws for Healing, which entitles patients to visit their animals. to reduce their stress and reinvigorate their morale.

The instigator of this project is Zachary Noble , who has since died of cancer in this same hospital. With the help of his aunt Donna, he was able to visit his animals. Which had not failed to prove to her close relative (Donna Jenkins) that they were each time very beneficial for him. She has perpetuated her memory and her heritage through this beautiful project …

In association with the hospital authorities, Donna was able to put this idea into place. “Zachary’s Paws for Healing” became the first association to help patients in a hospital receive the visit and tenderness of one of their faithful animals.

To date, therapies have been tested mixing dogs and cats (“lambda”) to many patients in several hospitals, with completely positive results. The novelty of this project is the possibility of bringing in a known animal with whom the person has a privileged link.

Before each visit, the animals are meticulously cleaned so as not to introduce bacteria and other harmful parasites. They are brought in rolling bins covered with a sheet, for a visit of one hour weekly.

Donna Jenkins is very pleased with the success of this idea and hopes that this program (100% volunteer) can be extended to other hospitals.

In addition to visits to the hospital, the program plans to be able to place the animals, left without anyone to take care of them in some cases, in host families made aware of this wonderful initiative!
