Many of us choose what we eat with a lot of attention, or at least we spend a minimum of attention on it. But when it comes to drinks, especially alcoholic beverages, we are not at all paying attention to making the best decisions for our health.
Which is a VERY big mistake. Everything you do for your body can be ruined in a weekend out. While food and non-alcoholic beverages must list their ingredients and are monitored by the FDA, beer is not included.
Here are some ingredients commonly found in beer:
- GMO corn syrup
- GMO corn
- High fructose corn syrup
- Swim bladder
- Monosodium glutamate
- Natural aromas
- OGM Sucrose
Budweiser contains genetically modified maize (GMO). In 2007, Greenpeace discovered experimental GMO rice in Budweiser beer.
2. Newcastle brown beer
Newcastle beer was found to contain a coloring caramel. Caramel coloring class 3 and 4 is made from ammonia, which is classified as a carcinogen. Even though alcohol itself is a carcinogen, drinking in moderation may decrease your chances of developing cancer. However, added carcinogens will have the opposite effect. “The one and only” beer with a high risk of causing cancer.
3. Corona extra
The ads were so peaceful and relaxing. Until I discover that the beer contains GMO corn syrup and propylene glycol. Propylene glycol is controversial, and it is said that it may be dangerous for your health.
4. Miller lite beer
Miller lite beer contains GM corn and corn syrup. It’s “the time of GMOs”.
5. Michelob Ultra
This beer often receives praise for its sweetness. However, several investigations have shown that there is an ingredient of Guinness quite disturbing. This beer contains fish glue, an ingredient that comes from the swim bladder.
7. Pabst Blue Ribbon
Pabst Blue Ribbon beer contains GM corn and GM corn syrup.
8. Coors Light
Coors Light beer is well known to students especially because it is cheap. It contains GMO corn syrup.
You have to choose some kinds of healthy beers
So when it comes to beer, you have to be very careful. Your best option is to find a microbrewery you can trust. As always, try to avoid cheap products that are of poor quality. Try to stay away from all American beers because they are years behind GMOs. Everywhere in the world we ban GMOs except in the United States.
Choose organic beer. Beers with the 100% organic label are required to have 100% organic ingredients. While an “organic” label means that it will be organic at only 95%. European beer is more likely to be safe from GMO ingredients but unfortunately in most other beers there are GMO artificial ingredients, stabilizers, cereals and preservatives, plus HFCs.
